MORE UPCOMING EVENTS

Sunday Morning Meditation

With a New Year comes new adventures and new intentions. Starting Sunday, January 1st our Prayer Chaplains will be leading a morning meditation before the Sunday service.  This will be a time to meditate and center yourself as you start your week in the silence. Meditation starts at 9:15 am and ends at 9:45. All are welcome but please be on time.

Healing and Wholeness Service

Please join us on Friday, February 3rd for our first Healing and Wholeness Service.  This once-a-month service will be filled with music, chant, prayer, and hands on healing conducted by members of our music team and our prayer chaplain team.  If you’ve ever wanted a time and place where you could just be open and surrendered to the healing power of Spirit this will a wonderful opportunity to be surrounded in love, prayer, and peace.

Join us on the first Friday of the month starting February, 3rd at 7:00 pm.

Community Outreach

Unity of Fox Valley’s Street Ministry

We want to provide back packs filled with useful items to those in need. This doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. You may contribute clean, gently used clothing or purchase new items at a Goodwill shop or thrift store,
dollar store, Walmart or Target, etc.   For very little money we can make a difference in someone’s life.

When the packs are assembled they will be given to anyone wishing to keep a backpack in their home or car. When you see a person in need, just give it to them. Trust in divine timing that it will be the right person at the right time. This quiet ministry doesn’t judge or preach. It’s just a gift.

Bear Brigade

It’s time again to bring in stuffed teddy bears and other creatures so that we may fill them with hugs and love and deliver them to a local health care facility in time for Valentine’s Day.  Let the Bear Brigade begin!

Hesed House
There is a volunteer opportunity to help serve luncheon at Hesed House. Their purpose is to feed the hungry …clothe the naked … shelter the homeless. To give people the chance to hope again.   A not-for-profit coalition of religious ministries serving the very poor in the Fox Valley area.

Located at 659 South River Street in Aurora. On February 13th and 17th Unity of Fox Valley is committed to serve in the Soup Kitchen from 9:00am until 1:00pm. 4 – 6 Volunteers are needed each day.  This is a wonderful way for families to volunteer together. Please sign up in the fellowship area.

Annual Book Sale

Here we go again!  One of the biggest events of the year.  Our annual Book Sale

Sunday, Feb 26th & Mar 4th

Before and After Service

 TONS OF BOOKS & STUFF!

Get together all those good books (any subject), CD’s or DVD’s that have gathered dust. You can drop them at church in the Hospitality area next to the ASK Board starting the first of February.  This fundraiser offers you a wonderful chance to exchange some of your old favorites for new ones.

Youth Education for Our Teens

We all know what a GREAT job Mark Boston does with the Uniteens and Jean Boston with our YOUer’s, but they really do need some help. Just think about what it would be like to make a difference in someone’s life.  These kids are great and they really take truth to a new level.  Feel free to come and visit either Mark or Jean giving a lesson.

Happy New Year!    Jean Boston

Youth Education for the Younger Crowd

For the month of February, the Children’s Church and Juniors will be reflecting on the Power of Love. The Disciple John and the Color Pink are associated with this power. The children will learn that they can feel and show love by connecting with God through prayer and meditation and by being compassionate to everyone whom God has created with love.

Char O’Keefe, our Craft Angel, will be with us on Sunday, Feb 12th, to guide the children in a fun and inspiring Valentine Craft.

Both Children’s Church and Juniors have new children attending the programs so our numbers in attendance has gone up! To provide consistent and quality lessons, we need more volunteers in our programs. We are so appreciative of Leslie Henderson, our Junior’s Teacher, who teaches the children twice monthly, but we are in need of one or two more volunteers who are willing to commit to teaching once or twice monthly. Lesson plans and all materials are provided. Requirements are

  • Unity of Fox Valley membership,
  • Willing to have a background check and
  • Patience and love for children.

Anyone interested, please contact Mary through email at marynowroozi@comcast.net or call at 630-851-9147. Your commitment would be so appreciated!

Love in Action Trip

In late October, nine members of Fox Valley Unity traveled to Chestnut Ridge, West Virginia on a Love in Action outreach trip:  Bob Anthony, Nancy Baker, Tony Gross, Mickey Cowles, Alex Christensen, Perry Hurtt, Rick and Marsha McKay and Rev. Jan.

While serving this community they learned about generational poverty and how the churches in the area, along with World Servants staff and volunteers support the community.

Our team did a build out of bedrooms on the second floor of the community center.  We finished work on a resident’s home, built a flower garden, cleaned up for the harvest party, organized games, made beautiful baskets for the party raffle, baked items for the cakewalk and hung family photos from the community.

Over 100 people attended the harvest party with hayrides, games, dinner, a cake walk and raffle. All the children went home with a blanket and plenty of prizes from the games.   A wonderful time was had by all, including our team!!

World Servants, its staff and volunteers perform God’s transforming work in these communities. We helped some of the residents meet their most basic needs.   Each volunteer who participated was transformed by the opportunity to serve and be served.
