Fox Valley Unity will participate in the opening ceremonies of Unity’s World Day of Prayer from Silent Unity via live streaming video, featuring keynote speaker Rev. Paul Tenaglia and music by the vocal ensemble Spiritus. Thousands of people will join Silent Unity – an international, transdenominational 24/7 prayer ministry – and Unity churches around the world.

Rolling Down the River

This will be a fun Heavenly Host fund-raiser event co-hosted by Rev. Jan, Michelle Schultz, Sandy Donnelly, Ginny Palmer and Mickey Cowles. We’ll be serving delicious finger foods, appetizers and drinks, a 50/50 Raffle – all while you’ll be enjoying live music as we roll down the river. What more could you want on a beautiful summer afternoon!

The boat will be leaving from Pottawatamie Park in St. Charles – off Rt. 25 just north of Rt. 64.

Youth Education – Back to School!

It is back to school time – which includes our Nursery, Children’s Church and Juniors’ classes – here at Fox Valley Unity. An important aspect to our program is welcoming the children with open, sacred arms so that they feel special and secure.

To continually provide on-going quality classes, we are requesting that our parents commit one Sunday a month as either a Teacher or as an “Angel Aide”. This opportunity provides spiritual guidance and support and not only enhances our children’s spiritual awareness, but the teachers and aides’ as well. All those who commit will receive a copy of the Unity Youth Ministry training CD which covers a lot of introductory material. Furthermore, all teachers and aides will sign a Commitment Statement. Please know that all lessons, materials and supplies will be provided by the Youth Director. This invaluable service to our children is not only available to our parents, but to any congregant in our church. The requirements to commit are to be a member of Fox Valley Unity and to have a love for children. Please come downstairs after service and sign-up! Any questions, ask for Mary. Youth Education for Our Teens

We are looking for an adult, 25 or older, male or female, who would be willing to help guide our 11 to 18 year olds in Unity Principles and Spiritual Exploration. Experience with children is not necessary. You must be willing and able to give 2 to 3 weekends a year for retreats and some service projects. Sound interesting? Community Outreach

On Thursday, September 25th, volunteers from Fox Valley Unity will be serving dinner at the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans.

Help Feed the Hungry

On Monday, Aug. 30th and again on Friday, Sept. 3rd, from 9am to approximately 1pm there is a volunteer opportunity. Hesed House steps up to give people the chance to hope again. A not-for-profit coalition of religious ministries serving the very poor in the Fox Valley area. Fox Valley Unity is committed to serve in the soup kitchen on these two days. 4-6 volunteers will be working each day.

Sacred Service to Fox Valley Unity

Saturday, August 28th at 9:00AM is our next Landscape Committee Workday! Anyone and everyone who enjoys getting outside and landscaping is invited to help us beautify Fox Valley Unity’s exterior. Bring your gardening tools and gloves!

ONGOING EVENTS

A Course in Miracles - From 7:30 to 9 pm every Thursday evening, Fox Valley Unity facilitates A Course in Miracles discussion group. This is an ongoing class – rain or shine. Each week a new topic is discussed. Everyone is welcome at any time and the class is always open to new attendees.

Men’s Group - First meeting of the new season – Tuesday, September 21st, 7:00pm at the home of Bob Anthony. All men are welcome to join!

Women’s Group – Meeting EVERY Wednesday at noon here at church in the Café. Bring your own lunch. All women are invited to join.

“Let’s Talk” – A group for women. Meeting the 2nd Thursday of each month at church, starting Thursday, September 9th at 7:00pm.
